Three blankets on the runway by Britt Rynearson at the Tacoma Art Museum’s 2018 Northwest Native Festival

This exhibition was born out of a love of textiles and history and a curiosity about the significance of the blanket as symbol amongst the Native people of the Northwest Corner of the U.S. The Exhibition aims to be a forum for new discussion from contemporary Native communities that can then be shared and contextualized within our greater history.

My hope is to hold this show again in 2020 with a new group of exhibiting artists and welcome even more people into this discussion of culture and symbol.
